Well-known Canadian car parts manufacturer sold its factories to a Russian company

Moreover, this Russian company has never been involved in the production of auto components

According to Interfax, citing data from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, the well-known Canadian auto component manufacturer Magna International has sold its Russian assets to the local company E-Mobile. At the same time, little is known about the activities of E-Mobile.

The main activity of the company "E-Mobile" is railway passenger transportation, until 2017 the company belonged to the former advisor to the head of Uralvagonzavod Igor Timoshin. Sources of the publication "Ъ" believe that the deal to sell Magna's assets could have been made in the interests of a large buyer who decided not to disclose himself due to sanctions.

E-Mobile became the owner of 100% of the shares in four Russian subsidiaries of Magna International: Magna St. Petersburg, Piterform, Magna Seating Nizhny Novgorod and Magna Seating Rus. These enterprises were engaged in the production of auto components, in particular, seats for foreign automakers operating in the Russian Federation (for example, the Russian Hyundai plant).

Magna is one of the three largest global manufacturers of auto components. The company has production facilities in 27 countries, and it supplies basic components to Volkswagen, Toyota, GM, Ford, and Tesla plants.
