In Russia, T-80BVM tanks have been modernized once again. As reported by “Russian Newspaper”, the Omsk transport engineering factory has started installing new reinforcement elements on the armor.
Specifically, this includes installing dynamic protection on the lower front parts and reinforced protection for the turret roof. Essentially, dynamic protection is a container filled with explosives: it prevents projectiles that hit the tank from forming a cumulative jet, which burns through the armor. Thus, crew protection is enhanced.
As a reminder, last year dynamic protection started to be installed on the track sides of the T-80BVM. The tanks also previously received sights with thermal vision and a more sophisticated fire control system.
