In Russia, T-80BVM tanks have been modernized once again. According to the "Rossiyskaya Gazeta", the Omsk Transport Machine-Building Plant has begun installing new armor reinforcement elements on armored vehicles.
In particular, it concerns the installation of dynamic protection on the lower frontal part and enhanced protection of the turret roof. Dynamic protection is, in fact, a container with explosives: because of it, reactive projectiles hitting the tank cannot form a shaped charge that burns through the armor. This increases the protection of the crew.
As a reminder, last year dynamic protection began to be installed on the T-80BVM track shelves. Previously, the tanks also received sights with a thermal imager and a more advanced fire control system.
