Today Vladimir Putin signed a law that bans registration on Russian websites using foreign emails (like Gmail). The bill was previously approved in the State Duma and the Federation Council, now the document is published on the official legal information portal.
The law states that from December 1, 2023, on Russian websites that require registration and authentication, it will not be possible to register using foreign services like Gmail or Apple ID.
The law provides several ways for registration: by the phone number of the Russian cellular operator, with the help of a Russian mail service (for example, Mail.ru), through the government services portal and using identifiers on Russian resources (for example, VK ID).
