АвтоВАЗ намерен возобновить сборку автомобилей Lada в Египте

Lada cars began to be assembled in Egypt in 2001

Speaking in St. Petersburg at the Russia-Africa summit, AvtoVAZ President Maxim Sokolov announced that the company is considering resuming the assembly of Lada cars in Egypt.

Our main task now is to resume and develop a joint project [for the production of Lada in Egypt]. And we also expect that Egypt and our partner Al Amal can become a transport and logistics hub for the rest of the African continent.

The President of AvtoVAZ added that the company is considering cooperation with other African countries as well. For example, with Algeria. Maxim Sokolov also outlined the range of African countries to which the company intends to export cars. These are Morocco, Nigeria, Ghana. Deliveries of cars to Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya and Mozambique are also not excluded.

It should be reminded that export deliveries of Russian cars to Egypt began in 1988, and assembly on a full cycle was organized in Egypt in 2001.
