Ships of the Russian Navy have received a new air defense system that is much more effective than its predecessors. It is called the advanced anti-aircraft missile and artillery complex - "Pantsir-ME".
"Pantsir-ME" should replace the "Kashtan" and "Kashtan-M" systems. Compared to the latter, the damaging potential of "Pantsir-ME" is 3-4 times higher. The new complex provides protection against various types of existing and future air attack weapons. Moreover, it can hit surface and coastal targets.
"Pantsir-ME" can be installed on Russian ships with a displacement of 500 tons or more. It can also be installed on ships built by other countries. "Pantsir-ME" can fire at four attacking objects, providing a kill zone of up to 20 kilometers in range and up to 15 km in altitude.
