New generation of Russian Lancet drones will be virtually invulnerable, developers say

In the new generation, the drone will choose the target itself

Alexander Zakharov, chief designer of Zala Aero Group, spoke about the new generation of the Russian Lancet drone (also called a loitering munition). The designer believes that the new Lancet will be virtually invulnerable.

The main thing is ease of use. Ease of use and complete practical independence from any means of counteraction. It will be practically impossible to fight it.
Alexander Zakharov

The designer said that it is impossible to suppress the Lancet with the help of electronic warfare equipment, since its "computing circuit" is on board. The drone's area of operation will be set by the operator, but it will choose the target independently.

And in this area, he says: "Only armor." Accordingly, neither pickups nor people suffer. That is, he is looking specifically for "armor" or barrel artillery. But he has a table from the accounting department, where he knows that air defense systems and radars are more expensive, and therefore if he sees a tank and a radar at the same time, it will be a radar. And this has already been tested.
Alexander Zakharov

An interesting point: according to the designer, Lancets are now being assembled in the building of a former shopping center that closed during the coronavirus pandemic.
