Belarusian BelAZ mining dump trucks to switch to Russian engines

But not immediately, but in the next two years

Technical Director of the Belarusian enterprise BelAZ, Sergei Lesin, announced that the company would abandon foreign engines in favor of Russian ones - all popular models of dump trucks will be switched to domestic engines. However, such a transition will take time.

This is not a quick process. We have a number of projects for which we have received prototypes, and they are currently undergoing operational tests. For some products, there is already approval for mass production. In fact, when this work is completed, we will completely cover the need for diesel engines for the most popular products. It is quite realistic to achieve complete import substitution in this part in 2025, if there are no difficulties.
Sergei Lesin

Some BelAZ vehicles are already equipped with engines from the Yaroslavl Motor Plant (a subsidiary of GAZ), the new 220-ton truck is equipped with engines from the Kolomna Plant, and the Belarusian enterprise is also negotiating with the Ural Diesel-Motor Plant and the Tutaev Motor Plant (part of KamAZ).
