Engineers of NPO GOI named after S.I. Vavilov of the holding "Schwabe" (included in Rostec) created a new type of optical fiber. The material will allow to reduce energy consumption and increase throughput when transmitting data, and devices created with its use will be more resistant when working in aggressive environments and are not subject to electromagnetic interference.
The constructively new material is a twisted microstructured optical fiber with several cores of quartz glass, supplemented by Bragg fiber gratings.
"Optical fibers today are irreplaceable in telemetry, telemechanics, communications in transport and the aerospace industry. NPO GOI as part of "Schwabe" - one of the leaders in Russia in the field of creating unique microstructured optical fibers from quartz glass. The company's products are immune to electromagnetic interference and have a long service life - 25 years or more. We are convinced that their new development will find wide application in the most precise sectors of Russian industry", - commented on the development, the executive director of "Rostec" Oleg Evtushenko.
