The Kaliningrad-based Avtotor plant will launch the production of the BAIC BJ40 frame SUV in July of this year. "The start of industrial production of the new model is planned for July," the company said:
Avtotor has already begun preparations for the serial production of the new product, and the company has produced several dozen SUVs in test mode at the moment.
BAIC BJ40 for the Russian market was announced earlier. This mid-size model is equipped with a 2-liter gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of 225 hp, an 8-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system. The front and rear bumpers are specially designed to provide maximum geometric cross-country ability. The peculiarity of BAIC BJ40 is the removable roof. It consists of three sections: two above the front seats, the third above the rear of the car. The price of the car was announced earlier – 3.76 million rubles (BAIC BJ40 has only one configuration so far).
