Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Vasily Shpak, announced that by the end of 2024, the entire domestic demand for card chips in Russia could be met by two domestic enterprises - 'Mikron' and 'NM-Tech'. This is important as due to the pandemic and sanctions, Taiwanese and American chips have risen 4-5 times in price. And some Russian banks could not even order new cards because of this.
"We expect that 100% of the existing demand for bank cards in the country will be met by the end of 2024 with the help of local manufacturers, "Mikron" and "NM-Tech"", said Vasily Shpak. He also added that "Mikron" currently fully fulfills its obligations to Russian card manufacturers.
The Moscow factory 'Mikron' is currently experiencing unprecedented growth in orders for all types of microprocessors. For example, the enterprise is currently fulfilling an order for 4 million chips for passports.
