The project manager of Lada Vesta, Oleg Grunenkov, told Quto.ru that the company completely eliminated oil consumption in a 1.8-liter engine. The measures that helped to finally defeat it are not reported: Grunenkov only announced that "the engine designers changed the unit design".

The 16-valve 1.8-liter engine will appear under the hood of Lada Vesta NG next year, and it will work exclusively with a variator transmission - combining it with a manual transmission is not planned.

We recall that as soon as the 1.8-liter engine began to be installed on Vesta, it consumed 2-4 l per 10 thousand km, and in some cases, exhaust consumption was 1 l per 1 thousand km. Then, "AvtoVAZ" began to change the cylinder head for free under warranty, but not much has changed - until 2018 when the engine was upgraded again. Then the quality of the cylinder head assembly was improved, valve damage was eliminated, oil deflector cap damage was eliminated, the design of the crankcase ventilation separator was corrected, and ... high viscosity 5W40 engine oil was poured. The situation with oil consumption did actually improve, but it still remained. And now the engineers seem to have fully fixed the downside.
