A new type of fraud has emerged in Moscow: malefactors are distributing fake QR codes on electric scooters, which can lead to a malicious link or users may be redirected to a phishing website. Capital kicksharing services have explained how to protect yourself from trouble.

"With each case of unauthorized information the security service of the service is working. We remind users that scanning QR code before starting a trip should only be through the service application. The application does not accept third-party codes and prevents the possibility of switching to harmful link", – explained in the Whoosh service.

"If we detect similar elements, scout employees quickly remove them. For the safety of our users, we strongly recommend scanning the QR code only through kicksharing service applications", – noted in “Yourent”.

"The stickers have no relation to the service. The service employees promptly remove elements that do not relate to scooter rental. We remind you that to rent a scooter you need to scan the QR code only through the official app", – told in "Yandex GO".
