The creators of the Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile and gun system reported on the introduction of a number of improvements to it. For example, the complex was "trained" to intercept the latest foreign missiles and artillery shells like HIMARS.
«The Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile and gun system has been refined taking into account the experience of operation during combat operation. All necessary improvements have been implemented,» – said the High-Precision Complexes holding (part of Rostec).
The main purpose of the Pantsir is the close-range defense of civilian and military facilities, as well as the cover of long-range air defense systems. In the Armed Forces of Russia, the complex is represented by the Pantsir-S1 modification with a multi-channel target acquisition and tracking system: it is capable of hitting aerial targets flying at speeds up to 1,000 m/s at a distance from 200 m to 20 km.
High-Precision Complexes also reported that the Pantsir-SM-SV air defense system is in the final stages of testing. This is a modification of the short-range SAM system on a tracked chassis. The complex will have two types of anti-aircraft guided missiles and have an increased kill zone.
