Roscosmos spoke about the experiments that Russian cosmonauts are conducting on the ISS as part of the Peritectica project. It aims to create new alloys for industry.
According to the Russian space agency, samples of peritectic alloys are heated, held, and then cooled on special scientific equipment (in this role is a furnace for electromagnetic levitation melting and crystallization in an alternating electromagnetic field). The results of the experiment will be applied on Earth: in mechanical engineering and metallurgy.
Peritectic alloys are among the most widely used materials in industrial production.
