«Ростех» работает над демонстратором гибридной силовой установки мощностью 500 кВт для перспективных российских самолетов и вертолетов

It is based on the VK-650 aviation gas turbine engine

The United Engine Corporation, part of Rostec, has announced the start of work on creating a 500 kW hybrid power plant demonstrator for promising domestic drones, aircraft and helicopters.

The state corporation reported that the power plant is based on the VK-650 aviation gas turbine engine, and also includes an electric generator and two electric motors.

«Last year, we manufactured and completed testing of a 100 kW HPP [hybrid power plant] demonstrator, on the basis of which we worked out fundamental technical solutions and were able to make all the elements of the plant work in a coordinated manner under the control of our ACS. The groundwork we have created has allowed us to approach the target milestone of 500 kW,» said Mikhail Shemet, Deputy Director of Advanced Programs at UEC-Klimov.

Rostec listed the advantages of hybrid power plants. These include, in addition to the obvious reduction in fuel consumption and environmental friendliness, increased flight safety due to the presence of two energy sources instead of one, shortened take-off and increased maneuverability.
