Mikhail Podvyaznikov, General Director of Obukhov Plant JSC, announced the upcoming launch of production of small L-type electric vehicles in St. Petersburg, at the former Toyota plant. "We will also produce small L-type cars. The presentation of this car will be on May 25-26 at the former Toyota plant... The first sample will be shown. We will produce about 10-14 thousand of them. Until we ramp up the production of electric vehicles," said Mikhail Podvyaznikov.
Detailed specifications and images of the car will be published in 10 days, but it is already known that it will be an ultra-compact urban vehicle of category L7e – with quick-change batteries, a maximum speed of 90 km/h and a range of 183 km. All components will be of domestic production. Mass production of the L-type should begin as early as 2024. Initially, the production volume will be 2 thousand electric vehicles per year, and by 2029 it will increase to 10-12 thousand per year.
