According to TASS, citing an Izvestia report, only seven banks in Russia still work with the UnionPay payment system. Moreover, their full operation with Chinese system cards is limited.
According to Izvestia, MTS Bank and Uralsib no longer issue UnionPay cards. This is due to their inclusion in the US sanctions list. Zenit, St. Petersburg and Primorye banks continue to issue UnionPay cards, but warn that they cannot be used for payments abroad. UnionPay cards from Gazprombank, Pochta Bank, Solidarnost, Rosselkhozbank, Russian Standard, Primsotsbank and VBRR continue to work, but are also not accepted everywhere.
