A TASS source in the defense industry reported on the modification of old (still Soviet-era) FAB-250 bombs. According to reports, they have been turned into high-precision munitions through the use of a navigation system.
"As part of the modification, FAB-250 aerial bombs were installed on winged platforms and equipped with an inertial navigation system. At a separation speed from the aircraft of 800-900 km/h, the bomb can glide to a range of up to 80 km," the source said. He added that the modified guided aerial bombs are used with Su-34 multirole bombers.
The name of the bomb encodes its mass – 250 kg. This munition, equipped with a high-explosive warhead, has been used in a number of different conflicts in Asia and Africa.
