Economy Times, citing its sources, reported that Russia and India are discussing the possibility of using the Indian national payment system RuPay and the Russian payment system "Mir" in mutual settlements.
According to the publication, this issue has been submitted to the Internal Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation for consideration. The commission is also considering the possibility of using the Bank of Russia's system for transmitting financial messages for cross-border payments.
RuPay is the national payment system of India, its name is an acronym of the words rupee and payment.
