Maxim Sokolov, president of AvtoVAZ, announced on RBC that the Russian enterprise will produce Chinese cars even before they are certified in their home country.
"Certification is a very lengthy process, it takes about nine months. It's like giving birth to a child. And therefore, our immediate plans, as I have already announced, will be related to the opening, the launch of the assembly line in St. Petersburg at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum," he said.
Certification in China means that the car is ready for mass production. It turns out that in Russia, the production of Chinese models under the Lada badge will begin earlier than in China itself.
