This year, the "Mir" system cards should fully work in Cuba. This follows from a statement made by the Cuban Ambassador to Russia, Julio Garmendia Peña, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
We have probably been working for about a year or a little more on introducing the "Mir" card system in our mutual settlements. We understand that this is very convenient for tourists from Russia who come to Cuba. The process has been slightly delayed due to technical issues. We hope that this year we will definitely implement it ["Mir" cards]," the diplomat said.
The "Mir" cards are already partially working in Cuba - tourists can withdraw cash. But the launch of payments will, of course, make them much more convenient.
It is necessary that the cards work in full. There is a desire, there is an intention to work on completing the technical issues that will allow its full implementation," concluded Julio Garmendia Peña.
