The story with the sale of the Russian Volkswagen plant is nearing conclusion. Despite all the claims of GAZ to Volkswagen Group Rus, the Russian subsidiary of Volkswagen AG, the government has approved the sale of the plant to the auto dealer holding 'Avilon'. This was reported today by the publication 'Vedomosti' referring to its sources.

The cost of the transaction is not reported, but according to the editor-in-chief of the 'Za rulem' Maxim Kadakov, 'state structures tried to bring the deal to a real market level, although with a discount'. He also confirms rumors that the plant will set up the production of Chery cars. It is assumed that cars will be produced both under their own Chery brand and under the sub-brand Exeed. At the same time, according to Maxim Kadakov, 'Chery will still have to invest - in the reorganization of production, logistics, personnel and so on'.

It is expected that 'Avilon' will confirm the acquisition of the Russian Volkswagen plant in the near future. The enterprise, we recall, is located in Kaluga, the maximum production capacity of it is 225 thousand. cars per year.
