However, as the German publication Handelsblatt wrote, Mercedes-Benz, if desired and possible (when European sanctions are lifted), will be able to return the plant.
According to Handelsblatt, Mercedes-Benz has an option to buy back its assets from Avtodom. «We have agreed with the buyer on an option that allows us to buy back the company's shares if sanctions are lifted», - said a representative of the German company. Thus, «Mercedes-Benz is one step closer to returning to the Russian market», Handelsblatt wrote.
Earlier it was reported that Avtodom could establish production of luxury cars from China at the Mercedes-Benz plant. It was about the Hongqi brand, which belongs to FAW Group. The Hongqi brand also produces cars for the party elite of the PRC.
