The laptops are not assembled in Russia - they were supplied from China by SalutDevices (SberDevices) in cooperation with the Chinese company Shanghai IP3 Information Technology. It is noted that at the end of 2022, 9,200 Sber laptops were imported into Russia.
SberDevices said that laptops are needed for their own needs in order to "provide employees with equipment in a timely manner." According to Vedomosti's sources, the bank needs about 100-150 thousand of these devices, so 10 thousand do not even cover a tenth of Sber's needs for this equipment.
