Yandex's team has announced an updated version of the phone number identifier in the application with the voice assistant "Alice". Now the identifier has become more accurate, and the number database is updated much faster.
Developers report that the service's database has increased by 50% and has reached 17 million numbers. More than 5 million of them were used at least once for surveys, advertising, or fraud. In case of a call from scammers or annoying advertising, the AON algorithm will identify its negative nature in 95% of cases and give a notification.
The algorithm can warn of both negative (scammers, ads, spam) and useful (delivery, medical institutions, banks) calls in dozens of different categories. Yandex emphasizes that the application interacts only with its own contact database and reviews left by users.
Dmitry Timko, the head of the application and Yandex's "Browser", said:
Now the identifier works with a real-time database. Information about the numbers enters it four times faster. For example, if our algorithms learn about a new number of wrongdoers, Android smartphone owners will start seeing the "Suspicion of Fraud" mark just a few minutes after.
