The lead rescue vessel "Igor Belousov" of Project 21300S was commissioned into the Russian Navy at the end of 2015, and since September 2016, it has been serving in the Pacific Fleet. However, few people know that the key equipment for this ship – the GVK-450 deep-sea diving complex – was manufactured and supplied by the British company Divex, based in Scotland.

The history of the GVK-450's creation is a long saga that began in the mid-2000s. Initially, the Nizhny Novgorod-based TsKB "Lazurit" was responsible for the development, but due to delays and funding problems, in 2011, the Ministry of Defence decided to cease this work. Instead, "Tetis Pro" was appointed as the main contractor, which, in partnership with Divex and TsMKB "Almaz", was to create a complex that met all the requirements of the Navy.

On May 28, 2012, "Tetis Pro" and Divex signed a contract for the supply of the GVK-450 for the rescue vessel. The equipment was manufactured by Divex's serial production plants specifically for installation on the "Igor Belousov". Installation began in 2013, and in 2014, all components of the complex were transferred to the "Admiralteyskie Verfi" shipyard.

Divex is one of the world's largest developers of integrated diving systems for various purposes, equipment for professional diving organizations, and deep-sea diving equipment. Over its more than 30-year history, the British company has commissioned over 100 deep-sea diving systems for NATO navies and other customers.

The GVK-450 is a unique project that allows 12 divers to work in shifts of 3 people at depths of up to 450 meters for 6 hours a day for three weeks. The "Igor Belousov" is equipped with a diving bell, a gas control system, a helium regeneration unit, and a deep-sea communication station with divers.

In 2018, with the help of the GVK-450, a record descent to a depth of 416 meters was made using saturated diving methods. The vessel continues to be actively operated: in 2025, the crew practiced diving descents to depths of up to 60 meters in Aniva Bay, and in July 2026, the "Igor Belousov" participated in joint exercises with the Vietnamese Navy in the South China Sea.
