Mentions of the promising T-90M2 "Ryvok-1" project are increasingly appearing in open sources. There is practically no official information about the vehicle, but analysts and specialized resources are discussing a possible deep modernization of the T-90M tank.
The main topic has been the new turret, which could change not only the vehicle's protection but also the entire approach to its production.
Focus on Speed and Crew Comfort
According to open sources, the "Ryvok-1" project is considering a transmission modernization to increase reverse speed.
This problem has long been considered one of the weak points of Russian tanks — a quick retreat from attack plays a critically important role in modern combat.
Sources also mention an update to the fire control system. This is expected to include new digital displays, redesigned controls, and a more modern electronics architecture.
Why the Attention is on the Turret
The new turret is of greatest interest. According to several sources, its geometry and production technology may differ significantly from the current T-90M.
Some analysts believe that the existing welded structure is complex for mass production and requires a large amount of manual fitting. It is assumed that the new scheme should simplify assembly, reduce the number of manufacturing defects, and accelerate equipment production.
At the same time, changes in the internal structure of the armor are also being discussed. Analysts admit the use of new composite materials and solutions previously tested within the "Armata" platform.
What is Known About Possible Equipment
The proposed configuration for the T-90M2 includes "Relikt" reactive armor, the "Arena-M" active protection system, updated electronic warfare systems, and anti-drone screens.
Official confirmation of these characteristics is not yet available. However, the very interest in the project shows that Russian industry continues to seek ways to adapt armored vehicles to new combat conditions.
