Pilots of Su-30MKI multirole fighters conducted joint exercises with Gripen of the Royal Thai Air Force. This was reported in social networks by the press service of the Indian Air Force.
The Indian Air Force clarified that the maneuvers, which took place over the Malacca Strait, are designed to improve coordination and coherence of actions. In addition to the Su-30MKI, AEW aircraft and an Il-78 tanker are participating in them.
Conducting exercises in this region underscores the interest of the two countries in ensuring freedom of navigation and strengthening maritime security.
This is the first international exercise of the Indian Air Force in 2026.
Saab Promotes Gripen on the Indian Market
The author of Eurasian Times noted that the Swedish company Saab is now actively trying to sell Gripen fighters to India.
The combat readiness of the Gripen fighter will ensure counteraction to any enemy. The Swedish aircraft will perfectly fit into the Indian Air Force along with Rafale and Tejas.
Saab calls the Gripen-E an aircraft that is designed for countries with advanced air forces. The Swedish manufacturer is ready to transfer technology to India and help in the creation of a fifth-generation aircraft (AMCA).
Interestingly, Russia has made a similar offer, actively promoting its fifth-generation Su-57 stealth fighters for the Indian Air Force.
Eurasian Times claims that India is considering purchasing one of three aircraft: Gripen, Su-57 and Rafale. And the latter is called the favorite.
