The complex will improve the characteristics of the "Pechora", "Kvadrat" and "Osa" SAM systems

The Belarusian enterprise "ALEVKURP" has developed an optoelectronic system (OES) for medium and short-range air defense systems TV-TP, which received the code "Owl". It will replace the Soviet television optical sight "Karat". This was reported in the press service of the State Military-Industrial Committee of Belarus.

The press service of the military-industrial committee stressed that the development will improve the characteristics of the "Pechora", "Kvadrat" and "Osa" SAM systems being modernized at the Belarusian enterprise.

The operation of the Owl optoelectronic system is based on the use of a thermal imaging module of the infrared range and a television module of the visible range.

The new equipment will allow the SAM system to detect, track and fire at targets in passive mode day and night, as well as in difficult weather conditions.

  • detection of air targets and measurement of their angular coordinates
  • target acquisition by television or thermal imaging channel and coordinate transmission
  • visualization of the image of the situation around the target

Now, specialists of "ALEVKURP" are developing special software that will expand the functionality of the "Owl" OES.
