Russia has received more than 12 million 152-mm artillery shells from the DPRK. This is according to Defence blog, citing a report by the Intelligence Management Department of the South Korean Ministry of Defense (RUMO).
The report claims that Pyongyang sent about 28,000 containers of weapons and ammunition to Russia. U.S. officials have stated that such supplies violate UN Security Council resolutions prohibiting the DPRK from exporting weapons.
The Russian Armed Forces are armed with several types of 152-mm artillery systems.
Towed howitzers:
- 2A65 «Msta-B», in operation since 1987. Designed to destroy artillery and mortar batteries, enemy armored vehicles. Firing range - up to 30 km.
- The D-20 gun-howitzer was developed in 1947 and produced since 1953. Some samples are in museums, the rest, after being mothballed, are used in the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces. Firing range - up to 24 km.
Self-propelled howitzers:
- 2S3 «Akatsiya» has been produced since 1968. Destroys manpower, missile launchers, enemy command posts. Firing range - up to 25 km.
- 2S19 «Msta-S» has been in operation since 1989. More than 720 units have been produced. It is equipped, among other things, with the Krasnopol guided munition. Firing range - up to 29 km.
- 2S35 «Koalitsiya-SV» on the chassis of the T-90 tank. It has been produced since 2013 and has been in operation since 2015. Firing range - up to 70 km.
