Russia and Belarus are looking for foreign customers for the modernized Soviet BTR-60. The BTR-60MB3 model may be of interest to African and Asian countries that operate many models of equipment developed in the USSR. This is according to Army Recognition.
The turret of the BTR-60MB3 has received a compartment for accommodating a panoramic sight with a thermal imager for the commander, as well as a similar IR system for the gunner. The developers retained the main armament: a 14.5-mm KPVT heavy machine gun, a 7.62-mm PKT machine gun. The combat module was automated, while maintaining the possibility of manual control.
Belarus maintains a significant defense industrial base and relies on cooperation with Russia in the development, modernization, and maintenance of various weapons systems. This cooperation is reflected in joint programs, technology transfer, and integrated logistics chains for projects oriented towards export to third countries.
The creation of the BTR-60MB3 is an attempt to use a common industrial heritage and an example of successful cooperation.
