The modernized T-72BM2 tank with improved tactical and technical characteristics (developed by the 140th repair plant, Borisov) was presented at the XII International Exhibition of Armaments and Military Equipment MILEX-2025 in Minsk. This was reported by the press service of the State Military-Industrial Committee of Belarus.
The T-72BM2 version features increased firepower. The tank received a 1A40-1 backup gunner's sight, a Sosna-U thermal imaging gunner's sight with a laser control channel and a laser rangefinder, an ITV-45 thermal imaging indicator, TNPO-160, TPNO-168V, TNP-165A day observation devices, TKN-N night observation devices, Puma DRIVER-4B
In addition, the combat vehicle is equipped with sensors for weather conditions, wind, and roll. The tank has dynamic protection with an increased coverage area of the hull and turret. It is armed with a 125-mm smoothbore 2A46M gun, PKT and NSV machine guns.
Additional improvements to the T-72BM2:
- V-84MS diesel engine with a power of 840 hp
- Individual torsion bar suspension
- Diesel power unit (systems operate without starting the engine, which reduces the tank's visibility and saves resources)
