Scientists from Perm Polytechnic University (PNIPU) explained why time is perceived differently - hours fly by, while minutes drag on for an eternity.
It is important to understand that time does not flow the same for everyone. The faster an object moves, the slower time passes for it compared to an observer who moves more slowly.
This is scientifically described by the Lorentz transformation - a mathematical formula. It is used in the special theory of relativity to describe how time is perceived by observers in different frames of reference.
The scientist emphasized that gravity also affects the passage of time. The stronger the gravitational field, the slower time flows. For example, in the orbit of a satellite, it is faster than on the Earth's surface.
Bright events with a positive emotional coloring often lead to a feeling of rapid passage of time. At the same time, moments that require patience and endurance seem longer to us.
This phenomenon can be explained by the rhythm of excitation and inhibition processes in the cerebral hemispheres. When excitation prevails, metabolism increases. This can speed up or slow down the subjective perception of time.
In addition, there is a theory by psychologist Robert Ornstein, which states that the more information a person perceives, the longer the interval seems to him.
According to the scientist, the subjective "compression of time" is also associated with deep immersion in work, more often intellectual. After the end of work, it seems to a person that time has flown by quickly.
Earlier www1.ru reported that in Saratov theycreated a "tree of time".
