Russian T-80BVM main battle tanks and BMP-2M infantry fighting vehicles need an updated hull protection configuration. This was pointed out by military expert Evgeny Damantsev.
According to him, with regard to the BMP-2M, we are talking about additional developed spaced side anti-cumulative screens, with external and rear armor plates with a size of about 10 mm each, as well as a central element of dynamic protection (DZ) "Kontakt-5".
This measure will provide full protection against rocket-propelled grenades with monoblock cumulative warheads (warheads) with a penetration of up to 500+ mm at safe maneuvering angles of 35-45 degrees. At course angles up to 15 degrees, protection against tandem cumulative warheads is also provided.
As for the T-80BVM, here the analyst called for considering equipping the vehicles not only with anti-cumulative grilles, but also with DZ "Arena-M" kits.
These complexes are capable of intercepting such dangerous anti-tank guided missiles for a combat vehicle as the BGM-71F with a combat unit of the "impact core" type on approach.
Earlier www1.ru reported, how the Su-35S fighter will repel the threat of ultra-long-range American AIM-174B missiles.
