There has been much talk in Russia about the capabilities of the T-14 "Armata" main battle tank, but there is still no confirmation of its characteristics in real combat conditions. This is written by Bulgarian Military.
Journalists of the publication decided to compare the T-14 with the M1A2 Abrams.
Abrams is a heavier tank. The Russian "Armata" weighs about 55 tons, while the American one weighs about 70 tons. Both tanks are equipped with engines with a capacity of 1500 horsepower.
It is possible that due to its lower weight, the T-14 is more maneuverable than the Abrams.
The Russian tank can hit targets with a 3UBK21 "Sprinter" projectile with a range of up to 11 km, and also fire from the 9K119 "Reflex" guided weapon system. It is believed that its projectile penetrates up to 900 mm of armor.
But the main advantage of the T-14 is the unmanned turret. The three crew members of the tank are in an isolated armored capsule located in the front of the hull.
Such turrets imply a high degree of automation.
Bulgarian Military journalists emphasized that many parameters of the T-14 are unknown. In addition, there is no information on how the tank performed in combat.
