What is Aframax and does Russia have them
Aframax is a class of oil tankers with a deadweight of approximately 80 to 120 thousand tons. Such vessels are designed for the transportation of crude oil and petroleum products in an unrestricted navigation area. Typical dimensions: length about 250 meters, width 44 meters, deadweight about 114 thousand tons, ice class ICE-1A.
Russia has such vessels, and they are being built at a domestic shipyard. At the Zvezda shipbuilding complex in Primorsky Krai, a series of 12 Aframax tankers is being implemented – 10 ordered by Rosnefteflot and two for Sovcomflot. The lead vessel of the series, "Vladimir Monomakh," as well as "Vladimir Vinogradov" and "Okeansky Prospekt," are already performing regular voyages for crude oil transportation. These are the first tankers of this class built in Russia.
