Specialists from Uranium One Group conducted geological exploration over an area of more than 200 km² at the Bougouni deposit in Mali. The company plans to build a mining and processing plant there for the production of spodumene concentrate. This was reported by the press service of Uranium One Group, which is part of Rosatom's Sales and Trading division.

Rosatom increased Inferred resources at the Bougouni deposit by 1.5 times – to 458 thousand tons of lithium carbonate. The Inferred category refers to resources with the lowest degree of study according to the JORC standard.

The data obtained during exploration confirm the potential for organizing industrial production of spodumene concentrate, which is used as a raw material for lithium production and is in demand by the battery industry. In 2027, it is planned to proceed with the preparation of a feasibility study for the project. Construction of the mining and processing plant is scheduled to begin in 2028.

Uranium One Group clarified that geologists were looking for spodumene ores of LCT-pegmatites in Mali. According to the company, the exploration results confirmed the potential for industrial production of spodumene concentrate.

Rosatom also expects to attract investors from friendly countries to the project.
