The Su-30MKI in service with the Indian Air Force could potentially receive a heavier payload of long-range cruise missiles. Developers are aiming to reduce the weight of the airborne LRLACM to less than 900 kg, which would allow multiple munitions to be carried on a single aircraft, IDRW agency reported.

According to the publication, a basic Su-30MKI will be able to carry at least two such missiles. A specially modified version of the fighter, created for the use of the 2.5-ton BrahMos-A, will potentially receive four LRLACMs per sortie. IDRW specifies that this four-missile configuration refers to a structurally modified aircraft designed for one BrahMos-A.

The new configuration should increase the number of missiles the aircraft can carry in a single sortie. However, this is currently about planned capabilities: IDRW does not provide data on the completed integration of LRLACM on the Su-30MKI and confirmed tests of the four-missile suspension.

According to open sources, India has about 300 Su-30MKI fighters in service. Ivan Grachev, a researcher at CEMI RAS, noted that Russia earned about 15 billion dollars from the production of combat vehicles for the republic.
