An expert council on the use of artificial intelligence is planned to be formed under the Ministry of Culture of Russia. This was announced by State Secretary — Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Zhanna Alekseeva on the sidelines of the XII St. Petersburg International Forum of United Cultures.
According to her, the council will include representatives of cultural institutions, educational organizations, professional associations, technology companies, youth communities, and scientific institutions.
Alekseeva noted that such a structure will allow for more effective implementation of new solutions — based on existing practical experience and taking into account the position of the professional community.
Specific terms for the council's creation and its powers have not yet been reported. It is also not specified what specific tasks it will address first — only the general direction: the implementation of AI in the cultural sphere.
This initiative builds on earlier efforts to coordinate AI in the public sector. Earlier, we reported on the creation of the Center for Artificial Intelligence Development under the Government of the Russian Federation, which is engaged in selecting and replicating solutions, methodological support, and synchronizing the efforts of the state, business, and regions. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education is taking a similar approach, preparing a catalog of AI use practices in universities based on a survey of hundreds of institutions. The concept of AI regulation until 2030, presented by the Ministry of Digital Development, sets out general principles for technology implementation. The new council should adapt them to the cultural sphere.
