Russian cosmonaut Arutyun Kiviran has been included in the prime crew of the Crew-14 mission. He will depart for the International Space Station no earlier than spring 2027. This was reported by NASA.

In addition to Kiviran, Crew-14 includes NASA astronauts Kayla Barron and Chris Birch, as well as Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Makoto Suwa. Barron is assigned as spacecraft commander, Birch as pilot, and Kiviran and Suwa as mission specialists. For Kiviran and Suwa, this will be their first flight to the ISS. For Barron, it will be her second: she previously flew to the station in 2021 as part of Crew-3.

Earlier, Kiviran was the backup for Russian cosmonaut Sergey Teteryatnikov, who will go to the ISS as part of Crew-13. The launch of Crew-13 is scheduled for October 1.

Kiviran graduated from the St. Petersburg Suvorov Military School in 2010, then from the Baltic State Technical University "Voenmeh" with a degree in Rocket Engineering. He was selected for the cosmonaut corps in 2021 and received the qualification of "test cosmonaut" in 2023.
