The Geran attack drone has received an unusual element in its nose section, which outwardly resembles an air pressure receiver. Such a design has not been previously observed on Geran and Gerbera family drones, so its appearance may indicate a change in onboard equipment. The Telegram channel "Osvedomitel" drew attention to the detail.

This refers to a thin rod extended forward relative to the fuselage. Its shape resembles a Pitot tube – a device used on aircraft and UAVs to measure parameters of the oncoming airflow and determine indicated airspeed.
If the new design is indeed a Pitot tube, data from it can be fed into the automatic flight control system. Unlike satellite navigation, which allows determining speed relative to the Earth's surface, an air pressure receiver provides the autopilot with information about the aircraft's speed relative to the surrounding air. This is especially important in the presence of wind and for precisely maintaining a given flight mode.
The installation of such a sensor could be related to the refinement of the autopilot or the expansion of the measuring equipment. However, the shape of the part itself does not allow for a definitive determination of its purpose: a outwardly similar rod can also be used for other onboard systems.
The appearance of the new element is of interest primarily as a possible sign of further development of the Geran design. If a similar part begins to be installed on other aircraft of the family, this will indicate not a single solution, but a change in the drone's standard configuration.
