T-80 tanks could get a second life not in their primary role, but as a heavy vehicle for breaching minefields. To do this, their turrets would need to be removed, and the standard chassis converted into a protected platform for a mine trawl and electronic mine countermeasures, explained military analyst Sergey Marzhetsky.

According to his idea, instead of a turret, the hull should receive a reinforced armored box, protecting the vehicle from drone attacks from above and from the sides. In the front, Marzhetsky found a place for installing a roller trawl for mechanical mine destruction.

Why specifically the T-80 platform? Equipped with a GTD-1250 or GTD-1500 gas turbine engine, it has significant advantages over the T-90's diesel engine, as the GTD delivers maximum torque, allowing it to smoothly pull a 7.5-ton TMT-K roller trawl over difficult terrain.

Separately, Marzhetsky proposed using elements of the "Listva" complex's idea to combat electronic detonators.

But the futuristic machine of the future must initially be designed with remote control and the possibility of fully autonomous operation, Marzhetsky concluded.

Earlier, "Pervyy Tekhnicheskiy" provided the top 5 tanks by reverse speed. Spoiler alert – a small-series domestic vehicle took first place.
