Engineers from the Experimental Design Bureau (OKB) "Alfa" have integrated artificial intelligence (AI) technologies into the new "Alfa Super-long Range" radar station (RLS). Now the radar can recognize all types of flying targets, stated the bureau's chief technical specialist.
This RLS is equipped with AI that understands that it is a drone flying, not a civilian aircraft or some bird.
According to him, the system first sees the target as a small dot, then it is guided by a thermal imager, bringing the object as close as possible, and "examines the target in more detail."
The developers have already entered all types of flying objects into the AI's memory. "Alfa Super-long Range" can simultaneously track up to 20 targets moving at speeds from 10 to 270 m/s, summarized the OKB representative.
The OKB "Alfa" website states that the RLS is designed for monitoring airspace at long distances. The system works in conjunction with the highly sensitive A-900M thermal imaging drone detection complex.
