The appearance of a two-seat version of the Su-57 fighter is due to the fact that foreign buyers of the combat aircraft could not cope with pilot training due to complex technologies. This was stated by military expert Yury Knutov.
According to him, in the operational version, the entire machine is controlled by one pilot, while the functions of the second pilot are transferred to AI technologies. All this radically expands combat capabilities but requires the pilot to have the highest qualifications.
But the use of such a computer plus aircraft control requires a very high level of knowledge and training from the pilot.
Knutov emphasized that the high training requirements became a stumbling block for a number of foreign buyers.
Therefore, some customers are asking to adapt the export version, making it two-seat, so that another pilot is in the cockpit instead of AI.
Rostec stated that the Su-57 is already being supplied abroad, but did not name specific buyers. The fighters have been seen in the skies over Algeria, and there is also an ongoing dialogue with India, which is considering between the Su-57 and the French Rafale.
