The KamAZ Innovation Center is developing a domestic program for calculating gear engagements, "SАPR-33" (computer-aided design system). The creation of the software was preceded by a problem: designers were forced to use expensive foreign software due to the absence of Russian analogues. A similar situation arose with gear-cutting tools, the delivery of which from abroad takes too long.

After studying foreign programs and tools, they began creating their own application. "SАPR-33" allows calculating geometric parameters and control dimensions of cylindrical gears, building their profile in 2D and 3D, performing strength calculations, and selecting optimal values. A function for creating a tool for preliminary processing of non-standard profiles is also available.

According to developers' estimates, the new system will reduce design time by 40–60%, minimize the number of errors at early stages, and lower the requirements for engineers' initial qualifications. The implementation of "SАPR-33" will also improve the quality of tools and part processing, and allow for the production of documentation considering the specifics of tool manufacturing.

The software product will be useful for transmission and gearbox designers, technologists in gear processing industries, as well as tool designers and manufacturers. Previously, KamAZ abandoned Siemens Teamcenter in favor of its own Kamotive platform for exchanging design documentation. The implementation of "SАPR-33" will be the next step in the company's systematic work to transition to domestic software.
