Russian inventor Artur Zhigalov has received a patent for a utility model of a buffer device for the bolt group of small arms. The development is designed to increase the reliability of automation and reduce wear on parts during firing.

The device is installed on a guide rod. A buffer with inertial elements and dampers inside, a return spring, and a polymer bumper are sequentially placed on it. The spring is compressed and simultaneously presses on the buffer and the bumper.

The main feature is a special sleeve that holds the inertial elements inside the buffer and serves as a support for the spring. A locking disc with a protrusion is fixed in a groove on the rod and rests against the bumper. This makes the design reliable and prevents it from disassembling during a shot.

As noted in the patent description, the technical solution increases the reliability of the buffer device and simplifies its maintenance. The development can be applied in various types of small arms where it is necessary to soften the impact of moving parts in the extreme rear position.
