Two Belarusian-made high-frequency induction heating hardening units will be put into operation in the thermal shop of the Thermomechanical Plant (a structural division of the Minsk Automobile Plant, located on the territory of the enterprise's main production complex). The equipment is used for heat treatment of parts. This was reported by the press service of OAO "MAZ".
The units heat metal to temperatures above 1000°C with subsequent emulsion cooling. This type of hardening allows obtaining a certain depth of the hardened layer, increasing the hardness of the part's surface while maintaining the softness of the metal core.

- own diagnostic system will notify of a malfunction
The induction hardening unit ensures precise temperature control, minimizes oxidation and deformation of parts during processing, and allows increasing the wear resistance and strength of the metal.
Its main advantage is economical electricity consumption. In addition, the unit is easy to operate and set up. It is operated by 2 specialists: an adjuster and a heat treater.
What work is performed in the thermal shop:
- chemical-thermal treatment of parts
- high-frequency current hardening
- ion nitriding
On average, about 48 thousand parts of 130 types are processed here daily, and more than 2 million per month. Then they are sent to other MAZ shops.
