The "Geran" has received an onboard electronic warfare system to protect against interceptor drones. The system affects the video channel of a pursuing FPV drone and can deprive its operator of the camera image directly during flight.
The development is designed to counter one of the most dangerous scenarios for attack UAVs – an attack by specialized interceptor drones. Unlike ground-based electronic warfare systems, the new equipment is placed directly on board the "Geran", so the impact on the communication channel occurs along with the drone.
The principle of operation of the complex is to create interference in the range used for video signal transmission. If successfully suppressed, the interceptor operator stops receiving an image from the camera, which significantly complicates the visual tracking of the "Geran" and the targeting of their own drone.
The exact characteristics of the development, including transmitter power, operating ranges, and effective range, have not yet been disclosed. Therefore, it is premature to talk about guaranteed suppression of all interceptor drones.
