Developers are more likely than others to transfer corporate data to open artificial intelligence (AI) services, provoking the risk of confidential information leakage. This is stated in a study by Solar company.

Solar experts analyzed 12,000 AI requests from 150 companies from January to June 2026. It turned out that 43% of them were requests from developers, with 41% involving the transfer of source code and 30% financial data.

Programmers upload source code and error data to AI services to fix bugs. However, along with them, information about system operation, its architecture, API keys, database passwords, or internal service addresses, etc., can leak into the neural network. Competitors or hackers can use this information.

Only 38% of AI requests contain private data. In addition to programmers, employees of commercial departments (26%), HR, and marketers (23%) also share it.

Employees of the commercial block of companies seek AI assistance on issues related to deal terms and contract drafting. Others prepare internal reports and presentations with neural networks.
