The Russian government has digitized key procedures for the tourism industry. Services have been launched on the "Gosuslugi" portal, allowing tour operators to obtain permits in ten days instead of a month, and guides to undergo certification in a week instead of two months.

Businesses now have access to step-by-step instructions for opening hotels, sanatoriums, and campsites, with the ability to immediately obtain the necessary permits – from sanitary and epidemiological to waste disposal organization.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko, the point of digitization is for agencies to exchange information themselves, and for entrepreneurs to submit a minimum of documents. For tourists, a tour agent verification service through an open registry and guide verification via QR code with a filter for knowledge of rare languages have been launched.

Industry representatives evaluate the innovations positively, but cautiously. Sergey Petrov, co-founder of the "Pod Nebom" glamping hotel chain, noted that digitalization is more like "the icing on the cake," and the launch of new projects is limited by economic and social factors. Alexander Gagarin, a board member of the Russian Union of Travel Industry, added that a filter for foreign language proficiency has already appeared in the guide registry – this is important for inbound tourism. At the same time, hotels with more than 50 rooms must provide the ability to check in guests via messenger by September 1, which will require additional equipment and staff training.
